From Athens we go through the ~42 km historical to the coastal plain where athenians and plateos stopped the first Persian invasion of Darius I.

Milestones for the day:

Visit the Tumulus of the Athenians, the Archaeological museum of Marathon and the tomb of the plateos, the replica of the Trophy of Marathon and the bay of the landing Persian.

Added optional (Summer Season):

Extension to the picturesque Temple of Artemis in Braurón and/or the Cape Sounion to see the sunset at the Temple of Poseidon.

SALAMIS (480 a.C.)

Milestones for the day:

Following in the footsteps of Aristides and Pausanias together the largest army hoplita met in the story, we step into the limits of Attica and Boeotia to the great plain of Plataea.
