Corinto, enclavada entre dos mares, comenz\u00f3 a pisar fuerte en la historia con el comercio mar\u00edtimo y la industria de cer\u00e1mica. Seg\u00fan <em>Tucidides<\/em> fue un Corintio de nombre<strong> Aminocles<\/strong> quien en el <strong>siglo VI a.C.<\/strong> invent\u00f3 el trirreme. Adem\u00e1s <strong>Periandro<\/strong> desarroll\u00f3 los <em>\u201cDiolkos\u201d<\/em> un camino a trav\u00e9s del cual las embarcaciones pod\u00edan cruzar el istmo de Corinto por tierra haciendo un portaje, yendo del golfo de Corinto al golfo Sar\u00f3nico.Tambi\u00e9n destac\u00f3 por promover las artes y el deporte, con los <strong>juegos \u00edstmicos<\/strong>, similares a los Ol\u00edmpicos pero menos famosos.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-9 wp-block-paragraph\">Durante las<em> guerras m\u00e9dicas<\/em> los griegos se reunieron en Corinto para organizar su defensa y tanto los corintios como sus colonias participaron del bando griego en varias batallas contra los persas como en<em> Las Term\u00f3pilas, Salamina y Platea.<\/em> Al finalizar esta guerra permanecieron aliados de <strong>Sparta <\/strong>y fueron los principales instigadores contra Atenas desatando la<em> guerra del Peloponeso<\/em> que enfrent\u00f3 a Esparta y sus aliados contra Atenas y los suyos. Con la negativa espartana de no querer destruir Atenas al ganar la guerra en el <strong>404 a.C<\/strong>. y preocupados por la posterior expansi\u00f3n espartana en Grecia, Corinto form\u00f3 una alianza con Argos, Tebas y Atenas para luchar contra Esparta en las <strong>guerras corintias<\/strong> <strong>(395-386 a.C.) <\/strong>que concluy\u00f3 con victoria Espartana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-10 wp-block-paragraph\">Es as\u00ed como en el <strong>338 a.C.<\/strong> se convirti\u00f3 en la sede de la <strong>Liga de Corinto <\/strong>cuando de tanta decadencia de guerras entre griegos, <strong>Filipo II de Macedonia<\/strong> logr\u00f3 imponerse a todos como l\u00edder supremo. Es al morir Filipo cuando <strong>Alejandro<\/strong>, su hijo, vuelve a Corinto para reafirmar esta alianza y lealtad de los griegos hacia \u00e9l. Y en la acr\u00f3polis de Corinto se instal\u00f3 una guarnici\u00f3n Macedonia que perdur\u00f3 durante el helenismo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-11 wp-block-paragraph\">Al perder los macedonios la <strong>batalla de Cinosc\u00e9falas<\/strong> in <strong>197 a.C.<\/strong> Corinto fue declarada libre por Roma y una guarnici\u00f3n romana se instal\u00f3 en Acrocorinto. A su vez fue la capital de la<strong> liga Aquea<\/strong> que finalmente se rebel\u00f3 contra Roma y el c\u00f3nsul <strong>Lucio Mumio<\/strong> entr\u00f3 a la ciudad y la destruy\u00f3 por completo, ejecutando a todos los hombres y esclavizando a sus mujeres y ni\u00f1os en el <strong>146 a.C.<\/strong><br>Reci\u00e9n 100 a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s Julio Cesar reconstruy\u00f3 la ciudad con una colonia de veteranos y hombres libres llam\u00e1ndola <strong>Colonia Julia Corintia Augusta<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong> La ciudad se recuper\u00f3 y cuando <strong>Pablo de Tarso<\/strong> la visit\u00f3 en el siglo I d,C,, era una ciudad importante, capital de la provincia de <strong>Acaya<\/strong>. <strong>Pablo<\/strong> fund\u00f3 un grupo cristiano el a\u00f1o 50, al cual dirigi\u00f3 sus ep\u00edstolas. En el <strong>siglo II d.C.<\/strong>, fue visitada por el historiador griego <strong>Pausanias<\/strong> y document\u00f3 en su libro descripci\u00f3n de Grecia numerosos edificios. Continu\u00f3 siendo la capital de la provincia romana de Acaya durante todo el Imperio romano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-12 wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"3\"><strong>MIDDLE AGE:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-13 wp-block-paragraph\">Con la decadencia del imperio: primero en <strong>267 los H\u00e9rulos<\/strong>, luego en <strong>396 los godos de Alarico I<\/strong> y m\u00e1s tarde los eslavos saquearon tremendamente la ciudad que a su vez sufri\u00f3 en<strong> 521<\/strong> un terremoto que la destruy\u00f3.&nbsp; As\u00ed, sigui\u00f3 la suerte del resto de Grecia perteneciendo a los emperadores bizantinos, conquistada por los francos en<strong> 1205<\/strong>, luego por los venecianos y en <strong>1459<\/strong> por los otomanos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-14 wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"4\"><strong>MODERN AGE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-15 wp-block-paragraph\">During the <strong>guerra de Morea<\/strong>, un conflicto b\u00e9lico entre<strong> la Seren\u00edsima Rep\u00fablica de Venecia y el Imperio Turco Otomano<\/strong>; Corinto al igual que todo el Peloponeso fue recuperada por los Venecianos por un breve lapso alrededor de <strong>1687 <\/strong>pero lo que comenz\u00f3 como una campa\u00f1a exitosa para Venecia (con apoyo de los locales griegos) finalmente termin\u00f3 en derrota por las tremendas pestes que asolaron al ej\u00e9rcito veneciano de <strong>Francesco Morosini. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-16 wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"5\"><strong>CONTEMPORARY:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-17 wp-block-paragraph\">Un gran terremoto en <strong>1858<\/strong> provoc\u00f3 la destrucci\u00f3n de la antigua ciudad y su reconstrucci\u00f3n se realiz\u00f3 varios kil\u00f3metros al norte, junto al mar, en la ciudad moderna que podemos contemplar hoy. Si vas por tu cuenta o con alg\u00fan tour (<em>como hice yo la primera vez en 2019<\/em>) seguramente vas a parar ah\u00ed para tomar unas fotos pues es una obra de ingenier\u00eda maravillosa. Ya desde la antig\u00fcedad griegos y romanos hab\u00edan querido hacerlo. Es en este lugar donde los Peloponesios preparaban sus fortificaciones para defenderse de los persas en caso de que las cosas en <em>Thermopylae<\/em> y luego en <em>Salamina<\/em> no salieran bien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-23 wp-block-paragraph\"> El proyecto reci\u00e9n pudo finalizarse en el <strong>NINETEENTH century<\/strong>. El canal tiene una longitud de unos <strong>6,3km <\/strong>y un ancho aproximado de<strong> 23m<\/strong>, mientras que los acantilados que quedan a sus costados rondan los <strong>90m<\/strong> de altura. El mar que lo atraviesa cuenta con una profundidad de <strong>8 metros<\/strong>. Por lo tanto no es transitable para grandes buques cargueros y se utiliza m\u00e1s bien por razones tur\u00edsticas.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-24 wp-block-paragraph\">Si vas en auto te va a interesar ver algunos lugares mas alrededor del Canal que valen la pena visitar! Adem\u00e1s hay una parte donde se puede ver el resto de los <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/iBkxtXRxXsnHCXnx7\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/iBkxtXRxXsnHCXnx7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Diolkos:<\/strong><\/a> el camino que utilizaban para cruzar los barcos de un mar al otro por el istmo de Corinto desde el siglo VII a.C. Tambi\u00e9n es posible caminar, si realmente te gusta caminar MUCHO pues la subida a la Acrocorinto caminando puede ser agoviante sobre todo si hace calor. Yo lo hubiera hecho si no hubiera estado muy lesionado de un pie que casi ni pod\u00eda caminar en ese momento.
